Hello,
we have tiles throughout the entire ground floor. Now, I would like to install laminate flooring. Does anyone know if I can just lay the laminate directly over the tiles with an underlayment for sound insulation? Or are there any other preparatory steps needed, or is it simply a matter of placing a soundproofing underlayment (how thick??) and then the laminate on top?
Thank you very much!

Hello,
I imagine that some heat loss could occur when laminate is laid over tiles. Since insulation also needs to be installed underneath to reduce sound transmission, this could prevent the heat from the tiles from transferring properly to the laminate. I would rather suggest using a carpet, as it is not as thick!
