Hello everyone,
unfortunately, the search didn’t yield much.
We have a house from the Deutsche Fertighaus Holding Group and received our second finishing package yesterday. Included was the "Moderna Smartfloor 3mm (0.1 inch)" impact sound insulation for laminate flooring.
I think it feels quite "cheap," but I don’t have much expertise. As an alternative, I would consider the Selit 2.2 mm (0.09 inch). Both have the same thermal resistance but differ in thickness.
Can you tell me something about the quality of the Moderna impact sound insulation? Could it even be better than the Selit? There’s no need to spend more money unnecessarily if the supplied impact sound insulation is actually better.
Thanks in advance.

Hello,
it doesn’t just look cheap, it actually is cheap. Later on, it will sag in the high-traffic areas, causing your laminate floor to creak unpleasantly.
Even though it’s hard since you’ve already paid for it: get rid of that stuff and invest in something decent.
We installed the
Haro Aluminum Comfort Silent Pro DS.
It’s very heavy (3 kg/m² (0.6 lb/ft²)) even at only 3 mm (0.12 inches) thick and comes with an integrated vapor retarder.
It works very well for us; there’s no more impact sound at all.
Best regards,
Andreas

Hello,
unfortunately, the Haro is not suitable for us. On one hand, the price is six times higher than the Selit, and on the other hand, the thermal resistance is too low. We need one with 0.060 m²·K/W (0.34 ft²·°F·h/Btu).
But thanks anyway for the evaluation of the "Moderna." That was also my assumption.

Hello,
Yep, you did. Less is better here. 0.06 is already quite high; the combination of laminate and impact sound insulation must not exceed 0.15 together. Otherwise, your underfloor heating will be too well insulated.
So if your laminate has a rating higher than 0.09, send it back because that’s not allowed.
Best regards,
Andreas

I thought so.
I'll check my laminate tomorrow. Is there a more affordable alternative to the Haro Silent Pro?
