Hello everyone,
I am currently considering the intercom system for our house planning.
Friends have recommended the Doorbird D2101V so far. (Price/performance is okay, although the camera quality is not outstanding.)
Do you have any good alternatives that you could suggest?
General information:
- The house will be wired with KNX
- The fingerprint scanner is already integrated directly into the door
Many thanks!

How do you currently control your house, and with which app? You mentioned that you don’t want an additional app, but rather one app for everything. That would be the visualization of the KNX system, which is what it’s called. The “pure” KNX operates independently without any displays or apps, so there needs to be an interface on top for convenient graphical control via app or touchscreen, right?

Sorry, I completely lost track of this thread...
At the moment, I’m not controlling the house yet since we are still in the finishing phase. The system is visualized using the Gira X1. We have also made a decision regarding the door intercom system. There is a centrally located Gira G1 inside the house, which connects the doorbell and video feed from the Doorbird via a VPN connection and SIP to the G1. The Doorbird app is basically only needed when we are away from home. Our electrician is quite open-minded but initially told me that G1 and Doorbird wouldn’t work together – they do, but not through the X1, and some fine-tuning is necessary. It’s also clear that if the router is offline, the doorbell won’t work because no signal reaches the G1. However, we consider this risk worth it to avoid installing a separate Doorbird video station. The G1 costs about 1,000 euros (around $1,000), and the Doorbird indoor video station about 400 euros ($400). So for roughly 600 euros ($600) less, we effectively got the complete central house control system on top, which made it worth it for us.
So, while we haven’t got the “jack of all trades” solution, we are satisfied with this setup.
