Hello everyone,

I am currently considering the intercom system for our house planning.
Friends have recommended the Doorbird D2101V so far. (Price/performance is okay, although the camera quality is not outstanding.)
Do you have any good alternatives that you could suggest?

General information:
- The house will be wired with KNX
- The fingerprint scanner is already integrated directly into the door

Many thanks!

In what way? Display? It’s optional. Windows hardware, like Surface devices, is sufficient. However, the original display is definitely recommended (not just for PEAKnx). This way, you are independent of updates, unlocking, app launches, app updates, and similar issues. Those can be quite annoying over time. Of course, there is still an app available for smartphones.

I’m going to take the liberty of reviving this thread from last year.

We are currently also dealing with the topic of doorbells/intercom systems. This is completely new territory for us. Our electrician usually installs a system from Doorbird. Since we are already planning a KNX system in the house, operating “another system” – meaning the app from a different manufacturer – would be redundant for us. Ideally, we would like everything to run through a single system. So now the question is whether it would make more sense to choose another system that is compatible with KNX. Although Doorbird claims to be KNX capable, from what I understand, a BUS cable can only transmit signals, not video and audio.

Maybe you can share which video intercom system is integrated into your KNX systems and how well it has worked so far. It’s important for us to be able to see (and hear) who is at the door, no matter where we are, and to be able to speak and possibly unlock from there. Ultimately, we want an interface on the smartphone. I can hardly imagine having a fixed display somewhere in the house anymore. But maybe you can offer a different perspective on this.

Gira 106 works great. The design is fantastic, but unfortunately so is the price.

Basalte Adelante. In terms of look and feel, it outperforms almost everything, including the Gira 106. The price is higher as well.

Otherwise, 2N is excellent. I currently have a Verso IP on my desk 🙂

"KNX-compatible" is a flexible term in this context and usually just means a doorbell contact connected to a KNX binary input.

How well the integration works depends much more on the visualization system used rather than on the bus system itself. Do you have any? A door with an electric lock can be controlled in various ways. Whether door communication and home automation run in a single app depends on the visualization. The market is quite limited there.

We have the Elcom from Hager connected to a Peaknx Control Pro, currently still running through Domovea. It will be a winter project to switch to a different visualization system. However, we are satisfied with it as it is.

How well the integration works depends much more on the visualization system used than on the bus system itself. Do you have something like that? A door with a motorized lock can be controlled in many ways. Whether door communication and home automation run together in a single app depends on the visualization. The market is quite limited there.

What do you mean by the visualization system used? This topic is still quite new to me, and I’m not familiar with some of the terms.
