ᐅ Exempted Garage Construction Costs

Hello and good evening :-)

I have a detached single-family house, and I would like to add a garage (prefabricated garage). This garage would be slightly outside the approved building area for garages and would have a flat roof instead of the required pitched roof.

The local authority sent me a form to apply for a special exemption.

What does such an exemption typically cost? Of course, this varies from municipality to municipality. On the internet, I found the following information:
“The fees amount to 10% of the benefit you expect to gain from the exemption, but at least 75 EUR.”

What exactly is meant by “benefit” here? If the garage costs 30,000 EUR, 10% would be 3,000 EUR, making the permit more expensive than that for the house itself?

Why don’t you just ask your local municipality?

That sounds good. And was that a standalone exemption and not a regular building permit/planning permission? Of course, I will ask the municipality directly on Monday, but otherwise, it’s stressing me out 🙂

We built under a clearance process and needed an insulated exemption for the garage.

May I ask what changes you made from the original plan?
I'm only asking to better assess the chances of success.
