Hello,

I am currently deciding on interior doors.

Many say that CPL doors are easier to maintain and more durable, but lacquered doors are significantly more expensive.

In this specific case, it is about the Grauthoff Astra series versus HGM.

Are there any other quality factors I might have overlooked? It somehow feels wrong to choose the cheaper option.

Thank you

It might not look very stylish in some cases. However, plain white CPL is perfectly fine. You can also choose a higher sound insulation class and invest the price difference in another quality feature instead...

Ours are the affordable ones from JeldWen, coated. Since 2017, we haven’t had any issues with them. And if one ever breaks, so what: you can get a new one for around a hundred.

Quality? No real differences. Painted looks a bit more elegant if done properly.
I myself noticed the difference between painted and CPL in white. You can easily tell at the edges. Painted was about 100-150€ more expensive (for Sapeli flush doors).

CPL is more durable, and when done well, painted surfaces look better. "Quality" in doors is a bit of a tricky subject. In Germany, we tend to overdo it a bit. Well-closing doors with long durability can be found for very little money. I’m a bit "particular" about these things and pay close attention to appearance and feel, but I also know that comes at a cost. If that’s not very important to you (otherwise you probably wouldn’t be asking) and you can allocate your budget elsewhere or don’t have extra funds lying around, go for an inexpensive CPL option. For good and reasonable solutions, it’s worth following the advice of the Nordic experts (@Nordlys @nordanney).
