Hello,
My father-in-law wants to install a small wood-burning stove in addition to gas heating. The house is about 20 years old.
The stove installer came and said the stove must not be placed next to the wall that separates his semi-detached house from the neighbor’s semi-detached house.
He didn’t give a reason. Is this really an issue?
He lives in Saxony. Who else could he ask— the chimney sweep or some kind of official authority?

A stove requires a chimney. (perhaps there isn’t one, and that is the problem?)
Where there is a chimney, you can (usually?) also install a stove.
I have just planned a stove in front of a combustible wall, after consulting with the friendly chimney sweep.
There are mineral boards (8cm thick (3 inches)) that insulate so well that this is possible.
