darkbrain8519 Aug 2010 10:39Hello!
I just registered here because I need to furnish a 100 m² (1,076 sq ft) apartment soon.
I want to keep it as "Ikea-based" as possible!
Since I first need to decide on the flooring, I wanted to ask if anyone has experience with Slätten laminate. I understand that for the price of 3.50, I can’t expect top-quality laminate, but does Slätten serve its purpose? How about its durability? Is it completely worn out after 5 years?
Many people advise against cheap laminate, but I’m looking for an objective opinion. I know apartments with cheap laminate that still look good after 5 years. Expensive doesn’t always mean better...
I simply have to buy an affordable floor. As I said, I need to furnish and renovate 100 m² (1,076 sq ft). That adds up. Baseboards aren’t cheap either.
It would be great if someone could help. I plan to lay the laminate on about 60 m² (646 sq ft) (only kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom excluded).
Best regards
Michèl

darkbrain8519 Aug 2010 18:27Hi!
Yes, I had read that too!
However, tundra also means paying more than double. That’s why I was looking for user experiences.
I just want to know how much worse "Slätten" is and how durable it is.
With about 70 m² (750 sq ft) of laminate, that’s a saving of 308 € (approximately $330)!

assamerer20 Aug 2010 09:25What’s the point of 8 more years of warranty if he can’t afford the money for the other laminate? Nowadays, not everyone can just spend an extra $300 because suddenly there’s a longer warranty.
@Darkbrain or Michael:
There’s a report that the inexpensive laminate still holds up well even after several years of heavy use by pets and children.
Depending on where you live, a second-hand laminate floor or a good PVC floor to start with might also be worth considering, right? My brother, who was a student, bought a used laminate for his hallway and living room, and it has lasted for several more years...
