Hello everyone,
I am currently considering buying a side-by-side refrigerator with an ice maker for my new kitchen.
A friend of mine, who has had one for years, mentioned that the ice cubes always taste musty. The special thing in his case is that he uses well water.
My question is: Is this normal? Do ice cubes tend to taste musty if they remain in the machine for some time, or is it more likely caused by the well water?
What are your experiences?
Thank you in advance!

For us: definitely not. It could be related to the water, so just try it straight from the tap.
But it could also be that his filter (if he has one) is completely clogged. It needs to be replaced every few months.
Even if, for example, we hardly need ice cubes in winter, they always taste good (if you like to suck on ice cubes *g*).

Hmm... I generally find that frozen ice, if not properly sealed and left sitting in the dishwasher container for a while, always has a strange taste or smell.
I can also detect a refrigerator odor in dairy products like cream. Some people don’t notice any smell... or less of it...
I think it does have a smell. Others might just have less sensitive noses.
