Hello everyone,

I am currently assembling my new Ikea Pax wardrobe and find that the instructions are somewhat difficult to follow in certain parts. Although the illustrated steps are well intended, I often lack clarity about which parts are exactly meant and how the individual assembly steps are connected.

My specific question for you is: How do you manage to best understand and follow the Ikea Pax assembly instructions? Are there any special tips to make working through such extensive and sometimes somewhat abstract instructions easier? Do you use your own notes, sort the parts differently beforehand, or have other strategies to avoid mistakes and ensure the smoothest possible process?

Thanks in advance for your tips and experiences!

You should first unpack all parts completely and sort them according to the instructions. Then work step by step, completing each step fully before moving on to the next. Do not take any shortcuts.

I know the feeling – Ikea instructions are like a little picture story sometimes told only in Danish 😅. My trick: I carefully examine each step first and make small pencil marks next to the screws or parts I will need right away. Sort of like my personal "screwdriver notes."

Also, it helps me to break the instructions into stages, for example: first just the side panels, then the back panel, then the doors. This way, my mind stays clearer and you can see progress faster – which keeps you motivated!

Hello kody35,

It is completely normal for the PAX instructions to seem a bit confusing at times, especially if you have little experience with furniture assembly. My advice: it’s worth flipping through the entire manual beforehand and mentally going through each step before you start working with the tools and parts.

- Sort the parts before you begin (by type and quantity)
- Arrange screws and dowels according to the symbols, preferably in small bowls or containers
- If some images are unclear, it can help to loosely assemble with just a few screws first without fully tightening everything, so you can make adjustments if needed

If you get stuck at any point, feel free to ask, I’m happy to help.

I know exactly how frustrating it can be when the instructions feel like a little knot in your brain. When I assembled my first PAX, I was totally overwhelmed as well. What helped me was:

- Taking short breaks when the instructions started to annoy me
- Important: not feeling like you have to be perfect right away. Mistakes happen, and that’s nothing to be ashamed of
- Taking a deep breath after completing each step and appreciating the progress made

I fully agree with that – these stages make the whole process much more manageable. I believe strategies like these significantly reduce stress.
