Hello,

we are planning to renovate the heating system in our older house, which we purchased second-hand. The previous owners wallpapered right up to the old radiators, so now it’s impossible to access the wall behind them without fully removing each radiator. I would like to take this opportunity to install a durable solution behind the radiators.

How have you dealt with this issue?

After all, wallpapering usually happens more often than replacing radiators.

If this is the wrong forum, please feel free to move the post.

Thank you in advance and best regards

Hello,
in my opinion, there are two options: leave the space behind the radiator free and paint it white.
Option 1: Paint up to the window. When renovating, always repaint the strip at the top and bottom.
Option 2: Wallpaper the strip between the radiator and the window as a narrow band.

How a professional would handle this: no idea!

Best regards,
Michael

A professional dismantled the radiators.
We could have done that too, but instead we wallpapered behind them as much as possible and painted the remaining area white.

However, we only wallpapered with white woodchip wallpaper.

If possible: clad from the outside. There are plenty of alternatives available online!
