Hello everyone, I am looking for proven methods to optimize the cleaning and especially the long-term maintenance of the glass fronts on our IKEA Metod kitchen cabinets. Due to the glossy surface and the tendency to show fingerprints and streaks, I would like to understand which specific cleaning products and techniques are best suited to avoid scratches and permanent stains. Additionally, I am interested in how to properly care for the plastic or silicone frames without damaging them. Do you have any experiences or recommendations on how to maintain the appearance over the years while minimizing cleaning effort? I look forward to any tips, including advice on the best timing and frequency for maintenance. Thank you in advance!

Based on previous contributions, I would like to provide some systematic recommendations for the long-term optimization of cleaning and maintenance for IKEA Metod glass fronts, especially in relation to humid environments:

- Cleaning agents: Always choose pH-neutral, alcohol-free glass cleaners. Alternatively, diluted mild foaming dish soap without aggressive additives is suitable.

- Cleaning cloths: Microfiber cloths are ideal, preferably different ones for glass and frames. Using lint-free, soft cloths prevents micro-scratches.

- Maintenance intervals: Weekly light cleaning reduces deposits. A more thorough monthly care using a special product for plastic and silicone frames is recommended. Intensive quarterly cleaning with glass polish to refresh the surface.

- Drying: After each cleaning, carefully wipe down with a dry cloth to avoid water spots, which can be particularly persistent in humid climates.

- Frame care: Since plastic and silicone can become porous from prolonged moisture exposure, applying a protective layer with silicone-based care products approved for kitchen surfaces at least once a month is advisable. Important: Avoid solvents to prevent material damage.

- Indoor climate: Where possible, improve ventilation and air circulation. Reducing humidity levels helps minimize long-term damage.

Finally, I recommend testing cleaning products on a discreet area before use. This ensures no unwanted residues occur.
