Hello everyone,

I am planning to pour the screed in the bathroom soon. I’m not an expert in this area. Do I need to prime the screed first (for example, with Gisogrund), or should I sand it first and then prime it – or apply a resin? What is the best way to proceed?

Tiling work in the bathroom requires a skilled professional with expertise. There is a risk that improperly installed tiles and incorrect waterproofing can cause water damage, which ultimately ends up costing more than hiring an expert from the start.

Good, if you haven’t done this yet, it is advisable to hire a professional company. However, if you want to try it yourself and have the calmness and patience, you can do it on your own.

The subfloor must, of course, be solid and clean. If it is, then apply a primer. Next, carefully check if the floor is level. After that, apply the screed.

In the bathroom, I would always be cautious with attempting that. If it is not done properly and water damage occurs, it can be very costly.

That is true, and in the event of water damage, if it is discovered that an unqualified person installed the tiles, no insurance will cover the damage. So always handle this carefully.

So, if you have no experience with tiling and ask questions like these, you should stay away from it. Although it looks easy when done by a professional tiler, it requires skills and experience.
