Hello everyone,
I have an Ikea Metod laminate kitchen countertop that unfortunately has some deeper scratches. Most of these are on the surface, but in some areas, they go slightly into the material. I would like to restore the countertop to a visually appealing condition and repair it as effectively as possible, so that the spots are not immediately noticeable or give the impression of just a superficial fix.
Does anyone know good methods or products specifically suitable for Ikea Metod countertops? Are there special repair kits available, or does sanding combined with a special coating work? What about using wood or laminate repair fillers?
I would appreciate any tips that allow for a durable and visually attractive repair. Thanks in advance!

From my own experience, I can confirm that using wood filler or paint makes little sense. For laminate surfaces, repair kits specifically designed for this purpose are the best choice.
One more tip: If the scratches are very deep, a repair kit with larger amounts of filler and multiple applications is worthwhile. Always sand between drying phases. This way, I always achieve a good result.

Hey, I really like this topic because I wanted to restore my Metod panel as well!
What helped me was buying a laminate repair kit (these are available in many hardware stores) and definitely testing the color first on an inconspicuous spot! Then work with a small spatula technique, patiently applying layer by layer.
That’s true, you can do very precise touch-ups with it!
My tip: After repairing, gently polish the area with a damp cloth to make the spot look much more even. Good luck to everyone tackling this!

For minor scratches, I like to use a special repair pen for laminate (colors matched to Ikea).
