Hello everyone,
Is it possible to build without following the energy saving regulations?
I want to avoid unnecessary insulation and similar measures. At the same time, I want to maintain the great indoor climate that exists in this building from 1959.
Although it was barely insulated, the house remains completely dry and the indoor climate is excellent.
I am planning to build an extension that fits this outstanding indoor climate. All these modern insulation methods are not helpful in this case.
Does anyone have some kind of exemption from the energy saving regulation and can share how they obtained it?
Thanks in advance.
Best regards

The pictures were taken during cold outside temperatures because it was requested to see temperature differences. When the room, wall, and outside temperatures are the same, nothing can be seen.
If it is 0°C (32°F) outside, 22°C (72°F) inside, and the wall is—purely hypothetically—18°C (64°F), the differences become visible.
Often, areas like radiator niches or roller shutter boxes can be seen there.
You seem to have understood the rest.
Regards, Joe

As a multimillionaire, I certainly wouldn’t build a house here or be active in this forum
Did my post come across as “envy”? Hmm... I actually don’t know envy. Maybe I’m wrong and you’re not a troll. Of course, having a lot of money and plenty of time is possible. I don’t personally know anyone like that, but if you’re that lucky, it’s really something to be envied
A plot of land by a lake near Hamburg for 100k... I’ll believe it only when I see it... Sorry.ACTUALLY...
By the way, I never said that I have a lot of money. (Although “a lot” is relative anyway.) Thanks to a stroke of luck, I have enough capital to carry out my house projects without much borrowing and can therefore live a relatively relaxed life (in terms of loan repayment).
As I said... I was almost going to be in debt for life! I would have done it, even though I wouldn’t have liked it. Fortunately, that’s no longer the case.
I also don’t have any time pressure. So, quite a lot of time. That’s true.
Because I can move into the existing house without much fuss and save rent. That’s almost 11k per year. I’d rather invest that in my house/extension.
By the way, there’s nothing more I can do than offer you (and other kind users here in the forum) to visit if you are in the North. A coffee is always possible.
As soon as the extension is fully planned and completed, I will post photos here anyway. So it’s just a matter of time.
By the way, you don’t need to apologize for being skeptical. I felt the same way until I signed the contract.
Best regards

Regards, Joe Hi Joe,
thanks first of all for taking the time.
Okay, so the thermal imaging camera is basically used to detect any existing weak spots in insulation or thermal bridges, regardless of whether the whole house is warm or cold. It’s about finding “thermal leaks” themselves, right?
If that’s the case, energy consultants often use a parallel effect to scare the client by saying “you’re basically heating the street,” aren’t they? (The entire house is logically warm at night. In the morning it appears cooler/bluer than a well-insulated building).
And yes! I’ve seen that in this much-criticized Mr. Fischer case. I am forming my own opinion right now. I take one of his claims and try to understand or debunk it.
You’ve all heard/seen him too… so why shouldn’t I be allowed to do the same?!
(I only believe things once I have considered them logically from all sides. That’s what I’m trying to do here in the forum).
Regards

Where should we pick up our coffee?
Best regards in brief You, dear Yvonnchen, will have to stay at home facing the wall for now.
At least until you get your tone under control.
As soon as that happens, you are also (maybe even especially you) warmly invited over for a coffee. But bring your camera then. Because here every week some groups come to take pictures of nature. I think there are some amazing birds to be seen.
Best regards
