The attentive user knows that I am not only referring to my gas price increase. See https://www.hausbau-forum.de/threads/gaspreiserhoehung-zum-1-1-2022.41836/
The switch was successfully completed on 01.01.22 (January 1, 2022). Tomorrow, the direct debit authorization will be signed and sent.
But today we received an email from the old supplier: they are terminating our contract as of 02.12.2031 (December 2, 2031) and stopping the supply immediately.

We hereby terminate the existing gas supply contract between us as of 02.12.2021 (December 2, 2021). On this date, we have stopped the supply of gas.

If you have received a price change from us with effect after 02.12.2021 (December 2, 2021), please consider it invalid.

As you may have seen in the media coverage, we have been facing an unprecedented price explosion at the European energy trading markets for several weeks, caused by an extraordinary combination of various factors.

The situation on the European natural gas market is particularly drastic. Recently, the gas prices for deliveries during the upcoming winter period have spiked by more than 400% on the procurement markets at peak levels.
😱
From now on, we are insured by law... uh... forcibly supplied — basic supply and legally guaranteed.

So that’s a difference of 500€ just for the heating period! What are your heating costs?

And the basic supply isn’t always that expensive (for 10,000 kWh):

Compared to the cheapest offer from Veri...vox:

Previously, it was about 4-something cents per kWh in the basic supply tariff; the cheapest I found charges 9 cents.

The advance payments were around 80€ before, so in the basic supply tariff it would be more than three times that amount 😳. So it definitely makes a noticeable difference.

Where does it say “month”? The heating period means the time when the heating is on. So roughly from October to May....

In the first post.
ypg remains on the standard supply for about one month until their new contract starts.

The monthly advance payment was about 80; under the standard supply tariff it would be more than triple that 😳. So it really makes a difference.

That varies everywhere. Our standard supply tariff, if we even had gas, would be 7.26 cents. The regular tariff would be 6.82 cents. Verivox only shows tariffs above 11 cents.

Apparently very different depending on the region. Our gas will even become cheaper starting from 1.2.22 – from 6.50 cents/kWh to 6.38 cents 🙂 with the same base price. But it is also a local municipal utility. However, the price guarantee has decreased from 24 to 12 months. They probably purchased gas at a favorable rate last year.

Honestly? If that’s what it means, I’m not going to bother. Let me check who my main energy provider is…

Got a letter from the main energy provider: something about 6 cents… so within the normal, fairly low range.

Then there is no reason to worry, and everything is fine.

I am still amazed at how lucky I am next year. I thought having district heating meant I was stuck with the worst option since there are no alternatives.
But:
Price reduction starting in 2022.

And I also get electricity from the local utility company... 1 cent cheaper per kWh starting in 2022.

🤨 I’m really confused...
