The attentive user knows that I am not only referring to my gas price increase. See https://www.hausbau-forum.de/threads/gaspreiserhoehung-zum-1-1-2022.41836/
The switch was successfully completed on 01.01.22 (January 1, 2022). Tomorrow, the direct debit authorization will be signed and sent.
But today we received an email from the old supplier: they are terminating our contract as of 02.12.2031 (December 2, 2031) and stopping the supply immediately.

We hereby terminate the existing gas supply contract between us as of 02.12.2021 (December 2, 2021). On this date, we have stopped the supply of gas.

If you have received a price change from us with effect after 02.12.2021 (December 2, 2021), please consider it invalid.

As you may have seen in the media coverage, we have been facing an unprecedented price explosion at the European energy trading markets for several weeks, caused by an extraordinary combination of various factors.

The situation on the European natural gas market is particularly drastic. Recently, the gas prices for deliveries during the upcoming winter period have spiked by more than 400% on the procurement markets at peak levels.
😱
From now on, we are insured by law... uh... forcibly supplied — basic supply and legally guaranteed.

I hold the opposite hope. The current infrastructure is sufficient for gas supply. The Nord Stream pipeline does not solve any gas price issues; it only creates discord without any particular benefit.

Brief information about basic utility supply:
According to comparison websites c*ck*4 and ver*v*x, my basic utility supply is supposedly the cheapest option at the moment. However, the utility provider's official website shows a different picture... The price per kWh was about 9 cents until 11/01/21, around 13 cents from 12/01/21, and as of today, 12/15/21, a steep 21.7 cents!

P.S.: Due to an internal error by E.ON (I have called customer service 9 times by now), I apparently have been placed in the basic supply tariff :-/ E.ON is ignoring all calls and letters (including registered mail) and has been stalling on this issue since early November.

And I see it exactly the opposite way from you....

This would contradict the established market practices.

The discord exists only in the minds of those who see their accustomed profits, gained from charging transit fees, slipping away. Because with Nord Stream, these beneficiaries are bypassed, and it would even be possible to reduce supply volumes through Yamal or shut down the outdated Soyuz pipeline.

@Mycraft @Scout : It’s good to be able to calmly see things differently. That’s been somewhat missing in other areas lately.

Yesterday, we received the third price increase within just three months! „… The consumption price will increase by 5.39 cents as of 1.2.22 …“ However, as existing customers, we get a 4-cent gross loyalty bonus. So, for us, the price increase is actually only 1.39 cents. The loyalty bonus is initially limited until the next price increase (at the latest until 31.12.22).
