I am not entirely sure if I have chosen the correct subforum and would appreciate any guidance.
We are building a prefabricated house (some of you may already know ;-) ) and would like to have a gas fireplace stove in the living room for ambiance, but it will not be used as a primary heating source, except for the usual heat radiation. The authorized district chimney sweep, whom we contacted based on the house builder’s recommendation, informed us that the flue system (LAS) proposed by the house builder (see attached photos 1 and 2) can be approved by him. However, whether the gas fireplace stove supplier can use the proposed flue system depends on them. (?)
My question to you: Does this mean we have to decide on a specific gas fireplace stove supplier now? We actually wanted to decide on this later when things have settled down a bit.
What experiences do you have / which systems did you use, and how did you proceed? Did you already choose a supplier and/or model before building the house?
I would appreciate it if you could explain this with an example, as I don’t fully understand the whole concept. Aren’t these systems standardized? Or from which “point” are they standardized? Is there some kind of “adapter”… or is there complete chaos in this area? ;-)
Thanks in advance.

Exactly! The money is better invested in a $4,000–8,000 TV with integrated design/installation.
Then you can not only display a fireplace, but depending on your mood, also a Caribbean beach, an aquarium, or even outer space! I was actually thinking more of a rotunda with a fountain in the center of the garden, but my husband definitely agrees with you. ;-)

Georgian201923 Sep 2021 18:08We also have a gas fireplace with a direct vent system. The vent pipe had to be supplied by the fireplace manufacturer (Dru). We chose a simple solution and routed the vent directly through the exterior wall at about 2.5 meters (8 feet) height. It is hardly noticeable and saves the entire run through two floors. By the way, the fireplace delivers around 7 kW, so it heats very effectively, no need for preheating, no soot, and it switches off immediately if it gets too hot.

Great, that’s exactly the solution I was hoping for. Unfortunately, in our case, it’s not possible because we have too many windows and patio doors on the ground floor, and the vent system must maintain a certain minimum distance from them. :-(

You also need some free space, the chimney’s exhaust system with required minimum clearances, and to consider heat buildup in summer.
