Hello, I would like to build a garden shed using aerated concrete blocks with a pitched roof. The area is approximately 15 sqm (160 sq ft).

Now my question is, what kind of foundation do I need?

Slab, strip footing, or pad footing? Reinforcement?

The most important thing for me is the foundation. What should basically go into the 80cm (31.5 inch) deep excavation? Sand?

Thank you

So a strip footing is mandatory?
In YouTube videos, I see garages and garden sheds built without strip footings.

I thought I would excavate 80cm (32 inches), fill it with recycled and other materials, place XPS insulation on top, and then pour a 30cm (12 inches) reinforced concrete slab.

Hello knock88

I can’t tell you whether it is mandatory in your case or not, but I would do it that way. A 30cm (12 inch) foundation slab is certainly fine as well. I think you’re doing it right.
