We are currently trying to decide what kind of decorative fence to put at the front. Since it’s 40 meters (130 feet), it’s not a quick job. Unfortunately, it’s starting to look like it will turn into a lot of work.
At the moment, I’m leaning towards a wooden fence with a stone base underneath. Since our carport and shed are already made of wood, this would probably fit best visually. Metal would, of course, be more durable—but it’s also more expensive and doesn’t match as well. I would also like a hedge, but my husband isn’t satisfied with that, and the shrubs grow very slowly here.
What have you all done? Could you share some photos? Thanks!

My dream fence to match the brick house is a low wall with occasional small pillars or bases and ornamental metal fencing in between. Unfortunately, this is neither permitted nor affordable.
According to our development plan, we are required to plant a hedge, and anyone who still wants a fence must keep it 0.5 meters (1.6 feet) away from the street and may only use picket fencing or wire mesh. So if we get a fence at all, it will be a very simple wire mesh fence.

@blockhauspower : The pickets match your house well. I like them that way, too.
By the way, we bordered our front garden with new railway sleepers (20x26x260 cm (8x10x102 inches)). We laid the sleepers flat as a raised bed edging, and that works fine. Later, we might add a small fence or something on top, but for now, we like the look and don’t see any need to change it. We also bordered our terrace similarly, so it fits well.
