Hello,

The question is already in the subject. Our garage is actually planned with a width of 6m (19.7 feet) at the front, 7m (23 feet) at the back, and a depth of 7m (23 feet). If we reduce the garage depth to 6.5m (21.3 feet), we can save 2000€.

Now I’m wondering if that won’t be too tight. We also want to store bicycles in the garage if possible, and I have generally thought that a spacious garage is never a bad idea. But 2000€ is quite a substantial amount for just 50cm (20 inches) more depth. What do you think? Is 6.5m (21.3 feet) enough, even for large cars, or would it already be too narrow? How would you decide?

Do you have a separate room for the bicycles? Where will the bikes be stored then?

Kind regards

If these are the external dimensions, I wouldn’t omit the 50cm (20 inches). It’s also worth checking if you can actually fit the bicycles and so on comfortably. Where will they be placed in the garage, and how will you get them there (passing very closely by the car, etc.)?

We have a 6.50 meter (21 ft 4 in) vehicle and a Sharan parked in the garage. In front of them, there is space for one bike trailer, one adult bicycle, and two children's bikes. To get everything out, I have to remove each item one by one (through the side door). An extra 50 cm (20 inches) of space would make things much easier.

We have an internal dimension of 6m x 6m (20 ft x 20 ft).
This is still plenty of space to place trash bins at the front wall and hang tires behind them.
I also have a comfortable half a meter (20 inches) of space in front of and behind the car to move around it easily.
I’ve never had to check whether I need to move the car a few centimeters (inches) forward for the garage door to close 🙂
