We need to cover over 10 meters on one side and want to install the flooring continuously, including through doorways. Most floorings are only rated for up to 8 or 10 meters. Which ones can cover a larger surface without an expansion joint or movement joint?

Found so far:
- planeo SLY ISOCORE up to 20 x 20 meters (explicitly designed for installation in 4 directions and installation through doors)
- NEO 2.0 by Classen up to 12 x 12 meters
- Wineo apparently up to 12.5 meters (although the specialist salesperson from the lumber store told us otherwise)

Not suitable:
- Meister: 10 x 10 meters
- Parador: 12 x 8 meters
- Haro: 10 meters

planeo is actually our favorite so far, but there is little information available online about it.

Krono Xonic is also allowed for up to 20 x 20 meters (65.6 x 65.6 feet), but according to the installation instructions, it should not be laid through doorways.

Is the subfloor uniform? Do you have a heated screed without any interruptions, even extending over the doorways, using only one heating circuit?

A simple question: The parquet flooring in a gymnasium or dance hall also spans more than 10m (33 feet), right? Any experts here?

Wineo design flooring up to 12.5 meters (41 feet); the others up to 10.0 meters (33 feet), including the more expensive Purline.

Of course, this is not just a single heating circuit. But we will heat everything evenly, doors will always remain open anyway, and the controlled residential ventilation will also help balance things out.

Other cases are generally not a problem either, because the main purpose of these new products is that there is no expansion anymore under heat or moisture, for example.

I have now found out that this planeo system is identical to one from a company called "Metroflor." It seems that a large global company is behind it, which I find reassuring.

Another brand of Metroflor is Aspecta. The technology is called "ISOCORE Technology." Aspecta has three product lines, and only the highest level features this "ISOCORE Technology," which is also found in planeo.

In general: The higher the wood content, the more expansion occurs. See, for example, wooden kitchen countertops or vinyl with HDF (high-density fiberboard) backing.

A large parquet floor might hold up better because it is glued down.

This would not be a problem with vinyl either, but we prefer not to do that. On one hand, it is almost impossible to remove later, and on the other hand, the subfloor would need to be precisely leveled and smoothed out to exact millimeter measurements, while floating installation can compensate for 2–3 mm (0.08–0.12 inches) of unevenness.

In our old apartment, where the flooring was not glued down over a large area, we had nothing but problems. I would definitely recommend gluing it; then you don’t have to worry about it. You can remove it quite easily later with the right machines.

Always glue the flooring when it comes to size. Underfloor heating is also an important factor. Parquet flooring is not only glued to the subfloor but also glued together between the boards.

Otherwise, tiles are an option.
