Hello,
since we have screwed solid wood planks on joists in almost the entire house for many years and really liked it, we are now considering whether to choose solid wood planks again in the new house, but this time with underfloor heating and therefore directly on the screed.
We do not want an adhesive floor, so we are looking for experiences with floating solid wood plank installations.

Since we didn’t want to glue them down, we ultimately decided against underfloor heating and chose radiators instead... The screed was omitted... Instead, joists were installed, onto which the floorboards were screwed. Regards.

pagoni202020 Sep 2020 21:12Ah yes... that’s exactly how we had it in our old house, but we had a cork underlayment in between. Even after 30 years, we still have the same flooring with no issues and great comfort.
Congratulations!!!
Actually, that would have been my first choice for the new house as well, but most likely it will be underfloor heating, which would rule that out.
Many thanks for these lovely pictures... I do miss that wooden floor a bit.

This is also possible with underfloor heating! There is a special system for that. You can have both. Just try searching online.chand1986 schrieb:
Sorry for going off-topic, but there is a sound difference between speaker cables.
So does that mean there is also a difference in the feel of different flooring? nordanney schrieb:
Maybe over 20m (65.6 ft) between 0.5mm² (20 AWG) aluminum and 4.0mm² (11 AWG) copper. Otherwise, people can measure differences but not hear them acoustically. The rest is caused by the dissonance of the high cable price...
We once tested this with acoustic engineers and a double-blind test. One out of five got over a 50% hit rate (5m (16.4 ft) 2.5mm² (14 AWG) copper stranded wire versus preassembled 6mm² (10 AWG) gold-plated reference gear), which reached 60%.
You think you hear differences, but when the supposedly worse cable sounds better half of the time, you stop believing these audiophile legends.

Heating plates with underfloor heating running inside, with spacers in between where the floorboards are screwed down!
For example, Cosmo Top 30, but there are other manufacturers as well.
