ᐅ Flat Roof – Is It Really Waterproof or Are There Issues with Water Intrusion?

HomeToGoHello everyone,
in our building project, we have a small bay window on the ground floor, which will either get a small metal roof or a flat roof. In the past, flat roofs often had issues with moisture. Does anyone have experience with this? How is it nowadays, are flat roofs completely sealed, or do problems still occur from time to time?
I would actually prefer the flat roof for aesthetic reasons.
Best regards

Regarding materials, this is not an issue in 2018. There are UV-resistant, permanently elastic, and watertight sealants and adhesives available to, for example, bond galvanized steel so that it is completely impermeable. However... the work must be carried out with corresponding care. This is where the challenge lies. If builders were as meticulous as shipbuilders, we would only have watertight flat roofs. But builders are not like that.
