Hello everyone,
I need some information regarding elastic facade paint because I’m at a loss. I had my facade painted by a professional company, and instead of the agreed Caparol Amphilsilat NQG, the painter independently used an elastic-based paint from Alligator (Alligator Miropan-Elast).
Now we are arguing about it!
I’m not an expert, but my intuition and past experience tell me there is a difference between using a “standard” silicone resin-based facade paint and an elastic version. The surface feels very rubbery, and the water vapor permeability according to the data is one level lower. Also, I already have some abrasion spots where the white “rubber” layer is showing through. The facade in the terrace and entrance areas is naturally exposed to contact and wear. Moreover, the paint is heavily tinted (dark red).
My question to the professionals and experts: Is it really risk-free to use elastic paint? What disadvantages does elastic paint have compared to the Caparol product mentioned above or other high-quality silicone resin paints? I’m confused because the painter is making me feel like I’m the fool.
Did the painter make a mistake?

Kind regards,

Actually, they are usually used when you need to reliably fill and bridge small cracks in the underlying plaster. Otherwise, in my opinion, they are too expensive for the job. I don’t see any disadvantages except for the price. You’re not licking it anyway. And once it’s dry, it’s dry. You’re not worried about a silicone sealant either. And that paint is also silicone-based chemistry.
