Hello everyone,
we have purchased a prefabricated timber frame house.
The cost for the electrical installation seems very high to us, around 18,000 euros.
Another provider quoted about 10,000 euros, for example.
We are considering doing the electrical work ourselves since my father-in-law is an electrician. The problem is the time, as he is very busy with his job. How long does a typical installation take (with two people, me as an assistant and my father-in-law as the electrician) in a prefabricated house without a service cavity, using pull wires, etc.?
In case my father-in-law cannot manage the timing, do you think it is more cost-effective to spend the 18,000 euros with the prefabricated house supplier, or would we save money by hiring another company for the electrical work?
I have no idea if the price is reasonable or too expensive, especially since another provider quoted 8,000 euros less for an equivalent installation on their house.
Thank you very much for your help.
Regards
Steffen

Knallkörper1 Mar 2018 22:56If you don’t have an installation layer, I would probably have the builder handle it. Otherwise, there might be issues with the warranty if you have damage due to compromised vapor barriers.
Includes approximately 50 power outlets, smoke detectors, a meter cabinet, and a circuit breaker for fire protection. One heating point is provided for each room. Additionally, there is one antenna connection and one telephone connection. Wiring and connection of the electric roller shutters are included.
Network installation, etc., is not included and is available at an extra cost.
The cost is roughly around 18,500 euros.
The conduit pipes are installed within the walls by the provider with pull cords, regardless of who performs the electrical work.
I have casually asked two electricians for quotes, but they apparently do not want to take on the job and are unwilling to provide a proper offer. It seems they prefer not to interfere with the provider’s business and suggest leaving it to the main contractor.
Best regards
Steffen

Network and similar installations are not included or are available at an additional cost.Just for reference, with our provider the prices are
single power outlet = 30 EUR
double power outlet = 60 EUR
heating point = 22 EUR
telephone connection = 60 EUR
antenna connection = 85 EUR
I find 18,000 EUR for the quantity list above to be excessively overpriced...
