I still have night storage heaters and now want to partially switch to infrared heating. Does anyone have experience with this regarding electricity costs? It seems like an interesting option for the transition period.

PS: No, I do not want to switch to oil or gas.

Counter-question: Which is more expensive, day electricity or night electricity?

Why not consider a climate split system instead? Infrared heaters convert 1 kWh of electricity into a maximum of 1 kWh of heat. With a climate split system, you can get at least 3 kWh of heat from 1 kWh of electricity (depending on the model and outdoor temperature, even more). It might even be cheaper since, depending on the size of the house, you only need one or two indoor units, whereas infrared heaters have to be installed in every room.

» So the topic of a "heat pump system" is new to me. I’ll look into it!
