Hello everyone, we have a timber frame house with insulation and mineral plaster on the exterior. Now the house number lighting on the facade needs to be replaced (see image). I have two questions:

1. What should be done with the old holes in the wall? Should they be sealed, for example, with silicone?

2. What is the best way to attach new lighting? Adhesive? Drilling? If drilling, are there special drill bits, anchors, or screws for this type of wall?

Thanks! Ashley

Fill the holes either with facade sealant based on PU (polyurethane) or with a trowel using plaster with a similar texture. Silicone is not suitable for exterior use. Ask a painter nearby who also does plaster work. They often have leftover material.

Use new fasteners with special insulation anchors. Look them up online; they usually look like a plastic conical screw.

Window sills are very durable on the outside. However, they cannot be painted over, which in my opinion is their biggest disadvantage. Their adhesion strength and UV resistance are excellent. MS polymer is also good—very strong adhesion, highly UV resistant, and paintable. Alternatively, you can use a ready-to-use exterior filler from a tube. Those are available.
