Hello everyone,
I have a problem where I urgently need your advice.
I own a newly built house with solid oak parquet flooring in the living room, which has been oiled. Unfortunately, after a water damage, I have TWO issues with small areas of the parquet and mold on the wall:
I am even considering having the room sanded. Can you tell me approximately how much it costs to sand and oil a room of about 35 m² (377 sq ft)?
Thank you for your help.
Sebastian

I own a newly built house with solid oak parquet flooring in the living room, which has been oiled. Unfortunately, after a water damage, I have TWO issues with small areas of the parquet and mold on the wall:
- Problem: In one spot, it seems that the parquet absorbed water. Currently, it is dry again and no longer swollen. However, very small dark gaps have appeared between the parquet strips. Is it possible to bleach these gaps and reseal only the affected areas? I ask because the room is quite large (35 m² (377 sq ft)), and the damaged areas together cover about 0.5 m² (5.4 sq ft). If possible, I would like to avoid sanding down the entire otherwise excellent parquet floor.
- Problem: I treated the mold on the wall with AGO mold remover (for the record: excellent results against mold!). Unfortunately, a few drops of the product dripped onto the parquet and went unnoticed. Now there are white spots on the parquet. I suspect that the chlorine or acid in the product has bleached the surface of the wood. What can I do to remove these spots?
I am even considering having the room sanded. Can you tell me approximately how much it costs to sand and oil a room of about 35 m² (377 sq ft)?
Thank you for your help.

Sanding and sealing will probably cost you around €35 per square meter (about $3.25 per square foot). I would recommend contacting a professional parquet installer. There are repair resins and similar products that might help make the damage less noticeable. Otherwise, it’s just a wooden floor with character... 😀 There will probably be more spots like that anyway 😀
