Hello everyone,
I am considering options for the driveway to the garage and the access to the house, with alternatives such as paving, asphalt, or concrete.
What are the advantages and disadvantages regarding:
- Cost (materials, labor...)
- Drainage fees
Thank you very much for your help

I must admit, I really dislike sealed asphalt and paved expanses. My recommendation would be crushed stone of the right size, combined with an edging made of "real" paving stones—such as blue basalt.

Check the applicable sewage fees in the valid ordinance. For example, “eco-paving” does not result in a fee exemption here.

Not concrete or asphalt, since it will be difficult to remove later if you get tired of it after ten years.

That is why it makes sense to choose something you truly like, rather than just following a current trend. Having the courage to trust your own taste makes decisions easier.

We are also having some difficulties making a decision.
The latest idea is to use permeable grass pavers (not the grass paver stones).
In addition, a narrow path made of paving stones. This way, there would be zero sealed surfaces and it would look even greener.
The irrigation system could be quickly adjusted, and the robotic lawn mower would take care of the rest.
The narrow path would also allow pedestrians to pass easily even in bad weather…

@rick2018 : For your house, I can well imagine a concrete-and-grass solution: You install driving strips made of concrete or paving stones (possibly heated in front of the garage if there is a slope) with lush green grass alongside. The outdoor parking spaces would be the same. The robotic mower will find its way. The area of sealed surfaces remains low, and infiltration is ensured.
