We want to install a video door phone system. The electrician says it will cost 2500 euros. Online, you can already find the technology for 500 euros with three indoor monitors. Does the electrician have poor contacts, or is it cheap junk for 500 euros? What did you pay, and which products can you recommend?

If you want something reliable, you should forget about the €500 system right away. With three indoor monitors, where is the quality supposed to come from?

We are getting 2 x GIRA apartment units Video Access Points (indoor) + 1 x the door station Video Access Point outdoor. The cost for this is 2,850€ including installation.

I have the single-family house set plus IP gateway from Busch Jäger. It costs 2250€ (about $2450).
Edit: Price WITHOUT cables and installation.
I can see who is at the door via my phone, open the door, and receive emails if I miss someone. This has been useful several times.

Some friends have a doorbell from Doorbird or something similar. It was cheaper, and they are satisfied as well.

Whatever you choose, check the installation instructions for the camera (viewing range). The cables need to come out of the wall in the right position!

a price between 2000 and 3000 € is quite realistic for something reasonable. With GIRA, for example, an IP gateway or similar can add significant additional costs.

If installation is planned inside a mailbox, that will also increase the price considerably.

Don’t forget that the desired system also requires the appropriate wiring to be installed.
