We want to install a video door phone system. The electrician says it will cost 2500 euros. Online, you can already find the technology for 500 euros with three indoor monitors. Does the electrician have poor contacts, or is it cheap junk for 500 euros? What did you pay, and which products can you recommend?

Due to lack of need, we do not have an intercom system (you can comfortably see who is standing at the fence from the sofa by looking through the window, and if necessary, one of the external cameras provides images to the iPad/mobile phone). However, I am familiar with products from GIRA and similar companies.
I am also considering whether an IP outdoor camera might be the more affordable and sensible option for us. Since our front door is fully frosted, we have no view of people standing there! The idea is to run only a network cable to the roof overhang and power the camera via PoE. Does anyone here have experience with this and can recommend a camera?
