Hello everyone,
we are currently considering options for our bathroom vanity and sinks.
We are planning a base cabinet 160 cm (63 inches) wide with two separate wall-mounted sinks.
What width would you recommend for each sink?
A narrower sink obviously leaves more counter space, but it shouldn’t be too narrow.
Also, we currently have a sink made of vitrified clay, and the problem is that the basin is too shallow, so water and residue don’t drain properly.
I wanted to ask the community what types of sinks you have and whether you are satisfied with them. The brand doesn’t matter much to us.
Best regards

The built-in ones are, of course, great for keeping clean. That was exactly the reason for the modernization.
In my opinion, it also looks better. 😉

We chose washbasins simply because I really love the look. But you also mentioned that you have cleaning services. 🙂 We still do the cleaning ourselves.I found the accumulation of dust, shaving foam, and water spray between and around the basins really annoying. With regular beard care, foam tends to drip down both sides of the basin, plus the child who tends to spread messes quite extensively—no, that really didn’t work for us. The worst was the 10cm (4 inches) gap between the wall and the basins. The child liked to throw their toothbrush in there, and water and soap foam dripping from the wall-mounted faucets landed on the marble countertop. In our opinion, we definitely wasted too much time cleaning the washbasin area during our two-week vacation.
A sink that can’t be wiped down in one smooth motion just doesn’t fit with how we manage our household.
We had the washbasin for two years in our first house, and I agree with you that they require more maintenance. We always kept a small cloth nearby and wiped off any splashes immediately since the countertop underneath was also solid wood.
Of course, this isn’t the easiest approach and demands a certain level of discipline, especially with kids. We thought about it a lot beforehand, but then, inspired by Marie Kondo, we decided: “it sparks joy” – things that bring me joy in daily life, I’m happy to maintain. So, for the new house, I decided I’d rather have my joy-inducing sink again, even if it means more effort to keep it clean. =)
For the house as a whole, however, we tried to find a balanced mix of joyful and low-maintenance materials. Making this kind of choice throughout the entire house would become too time-consuming for me in everyday life.

The integrated ones have the disadvantage that you also have to use the base cabinet from the kitchen manufacturer in that case...
And unfortunately, they are only available up to a maximum width of 140 cm (55 inches), whether as a large single basin or two separate basins.
