Hello,

A garage is allowed to be built on the property boundary, but we have to maintain a 3 m (10 feet) distance behind the house. If we want to extend the garage sideways behind the house for bicycles and such, can the extension also be on the boundary? I hope you understand what I mean—like a kind of garage around the corner?

Why not plan a 3 x 9 m (10 x 30 feet) garage with an extension from the start? That way, this question wouldn’t even arise. Otherwise, you should consult the local building planning authority responsible for your area to find out if your idea is permitted. It is difficult to impossible to answer this from a distance, since I have no information about the property or the relevant regulatory requirements.

Kind regards

So, it seems that the total length of the boundary construction must not exceed 15 meters (49 feet). That means, if we are planning a garage that is 7 meters (23 feet) long and 4 meters (13 feet) wide, with a 3-meter (10 feet) extension at the back, the total length of the boundary construction would be 7 + 7 meters (23 + 23 feet), which is apparently acceptable.

This is how it was explained to me, but I’m not sure if this applies everywhere. Thank you anyway for all the responses.
