Hello Dear House Building Forum Users!

We own a single-family house built in 1996 with a full basement.

We have noticed that our terrace in front of the house unfortunately has a slope of about 1.5% (approximately 1.5%) towards the house. Therefore, we want to renovate the terrace immediately and create a slope away from the house. It seems that it has settled towards the house. Previously, the terrace was laid with concrete slabs on "concrete bags" – some of you might be familiar with this system. Water simply drained underneath, unfortunately partly towards the house, although it was still adequately sealed with bitumen.

We would now like to install porcelain stoneware terrace tiles. Here are my questions:

1. How thick should the drainage concrete under the porcelain stoneware tiles be at a minimum? Would 1–2 cm (0.4–0.8 inches) be sufficient in the end?
2. What do you think would make the most sense for this terrace? Laying on drainage concrete?
3. Or leveling the slope (how best to do this?) and then working with adjustable pedestal supports?
