Hello
Three years ago, we built a timber frame structure. At that time, the slab for the garage was already poured. Now we finally want to build the garage walls. I am wondering if it is allowed to build the garage in such a way that the exterior wall of the house is used as the interior wall of the garage? Or could there be issues with fire protection regulations? I hope someone can help me.

Regarding fire protection regulations, I’m unfortunately not able to help you with that. If I were you, I would contact the relevant building authority for advice.
What I can tell you is that many manufacturers of timber frame prefabricated houses require a minimum distance between the exterior wall of the house and the garage to prevent (moisture) damage to the wall.
In our case, this was 8 cm (3 inches)!
If you do not maintain this minimum distance, you might risk voiding the warranty or guarantee on your house.
=> Be sure to check with the manufacturer!!!
You should also consider the structural aspects—the garage roof, on the side adjoining the house, needs to be properly supported as well. It’s a good idea to consult a professional for this too.
Best regards,
Dirk
