We need a new sound system. I bought my current one over 25 years ago, and since then, I have missed all the technical advancements in this area. But slowly, it’s getting annoying to listen to music only from the computer.

Can someone recommend a manufacturer?
Minimum requirements:
MP3, USB, radio, CD

What are you envisioning exactly? Smaller bookshelf speakers, or larger, bulky floor-standing ones? How important is the appearance? What’s the budget?

The look of the speakers doesn’t matter. We could put small ones on the table or larger ones behind the sofa. The budget was actually around 1000 euros for everything.
But I already realize I know far too little. I’m starting to lose track of what you’re all talking about. I think I’ll get some advice elsewhere and then ask you again. 🙂

I’d like to mention Nubert again, genuine craftsmanship.

On the contrary: we don’t know exactly what you are referring to. It would be important to know which music styles it mostly needs to reproduce – do you sit down to listen carefully, or should it just play quietly in the background – and of course:

What does “everything” mean in this context? Is it one thousand euros just for the speakers, or just for an amplifier, or both — and within that budget, do you still need to accommodate a CD player or something similar?

What is the equipment called that needs to be replaced, and what kind of devices are they (separate components, compact “tower” system – a photo would also help if you can’t describe it precisely in words)?

There are no restrictions regarding music style. We listen to everything from classical to industrial. And yes, I sit down and really listen. But most of the time, I’m jumping around the room to it. 😉

What it has to have, I already said, didn’t I?
Radio, MP3, CD, USB, speakers optional.

What exactly do you mean by “speakers optional”? Should they be included in the budget or not (cheap speakers usually require expensive amplifiers, to put it simply)?

For you, is “radio” a separate unit (tuner) or integrated into a full amplifier (receiver)?

Honestly, I don’t know. I’d like to have them included in the budget. But if the system turns out to be poor quality, I’ll just buy them separately.

Probably it’s enough for me if it’s integrated into the amplifier. As long as it plays music.
