Good evening,

My wife and I are considering building a container house on top of a large garage, and I thought I’d ask here why this might not work.

Our initial idea is to use three high-cube containers as living space, which would give us dimensions of 12 x 7.29 x 2.90 m (39.4 x 23.9 x 9.5 ft). The garage should have enough space for two cars, a utility room, a small workshop, and a separate staircase. In addition, there should be a rooftop terrace alongside the containers. We also thought it would be fine if the containers slightly overhang the garage by a few meters.

Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find reliable information online about the costs for such a garage. Does anyone have an immediate idea of what could go wrong, what the typical price per square meter (square foot) for the garage might be, or anything else we haven’t considered that would help us realistically assess this idea?

Kind regards

What a negative question! No one who is genuinely planning something will be interested. Explain your life plan that led to this idea, and you will receive help.

Hello

How do you actually envision the garage? Which building material? .........
