Hello everyone,

I have received several quotes for the electrical installation of our new build.

Unfortunately, the number of fire protection switches varies as well. I have tried to find out what determines how many fire protection switches are needed.

I haven’t really found a clear answer. What does this depend on, or what would you recommend for a typical installation in a new build?

Thank you very much

Regards

One circuit per required area.
If you currently have a wooden house, the electrician conducting the inspection could require one for each circuit.

If only the attic is made of wood, he may only require this for the circuits in the attic.

We have a timber frame house. I was surprised by the number of 25 circuits for 11 rooms and a heat pump. However, I'm not an electrician, so I would first need to check how many electrical circuits we actually have.

Large rooms with 2 electrical circuits, smaller ones with one, possibly the basement for the washing machine, etc., then you will probably end up with 25.
Of course, this is just an estimate.

In my opinion, none of this is yet law....

The question arises whether it might actually be sensible.

I’m just wondering how electrician a) arrives at 25 and electrician b) at 18 units.
