Hello everyone,

I have received several quotes for the electrical installation of our new build.

Unfortunately, the number of fire protection switches varies as well. I have tried to find out what determines how many fire protection switches are needed.

I haven’t really found a clear answer. What does this depend on, or what would you recommend for a typical installation in a new build?

Thank you very much

Regards

In my opinion, none of this is law yet....
No, VDE standards are not law.

However, he would need to find a certified master electrician who would agree to install them.
After all, the master electrician takes responsibility.

Maybe one master electrician planned fewer electrical circuits.

The question is whether it might actually make sense.

I’m just wondering how electrician a) comes up with 25 and electrician b) with 18 pieces

When it comes to the quantity, you’re not talking about residual current devices (RCDs), but rather circuit breakers ("fuses"). The latter costs about 2€ each for the material, the former around 100€...

No, I meant fire protection switches at a unit price ranging from 100 to 150 euros, depending on the electrician.

That’s why I was confused.

It is confusing what this is supposed to be useful for. But as others have said, it is not mandatory. Given the price, I would skip it, as long as the fire insurance agrees.

Just ask the electricians. At the current stage, it will be an estimate. One may have forgotten some, another might have been more generous. Over 20 is reached quite quickly if, for example, there is a heat pump, additional electrical appliances in the kitchen, and so on.

One per circuit, and these things are very expensive to buy, plus a larger electrical panel and installation.

Under the category: Building Services / Eco,
there is a post titled something like Arc Fault Circuit Breaker, which corresponds to the Fire Protection Switch.
The very next entry in response to the question explains everything about it.
