I have a somewhat unusual question:

I have a floor plan with interior dimensions of 6 x 6 meters (20 x 20 feet), which should be maintained except for any projections or recesses. Now, I need to draft how NF bricks (normal format bricks) should be assembled, purely from a planning perspective. However, no matter which bonding pattern I choose, it just doesn’t work out. I’m using a 1 cm (0.4 inch) joint width, 11.5 x 24 cm (4.5 x 9.5 inch) bricks, and the end bricks are three-quarter bricks. In all the drawings I’ve found, only one corner is shown, which works fine there, but a complete square with the given dimensions just doesn’t work for me. Hopefully, someone can help me, if what I mean is clear.

Do the end blocks have to be 3/4 or 1/2 bricks, or can I simply use a suitable brick that fits?

I would simply start by laying the first row of bricks and then see how it works out best, but usually the drawings are reliable. Maybe you forgot to include the mortar joints in your calculations, which can make a noticeable difference at this scale.
