Hello,
when we built our house, we did not consider that during heavy rain the groundwater rises and flows into the basement through the windows. Now that we have this issue behind us, we want to install watertight windows. Does anyone else have this experience and can recommend a company that can do this and also provide an idea of the cost?

Hello,
we had secondary glazing panels made from plexiglass because removing the windows causes more damage than it fixes. The windows are usually cast into the wall with concrete, and once removed, it’s nearly impossible to make the structure airtight again. There are companies that offer this service, but it costs about 500 euros per window.

Hello,
there are truly waterproof windows, but they must be installed during the construction of the house. After that, it’s no longer possible, and you can only manage with a temporary solution. An acquaintance of ours also installed plexiglass in front of the window and cut out a kind of porthole. He can close it, and it is watertight!

I can’t imagine that there are truly waterproof windows. There are always gaps where water can get in. But it does sound interesting. Is it possible to see one somewhere? And how much does such a window cost when installed? Does anyone know addresses where you can get them?
