Hello dear community,
After a lot of calculations and technical considerations, I bought two Lupin blinds, 100cm (40 inches) wide and 130cm (51 inches) high, today at Ikea for my double casement window.
Now the problem: On the blind, the cord and the rod for turning are mounted on the right side. For the left window of the double casement, I obviously want to have them on the left side, otherwise the cord would be hanging awkwardly between the handles in the middle of the window — not nice!
So I asked the sales assistant if it can somehow be rotated or shifted inside (this wasn’t clear from the packaging or the display model). She said, “Yes, of course, you can have it on the left side too!” I asked, “Are there different packages for that, or does every blind work this way?” She answered, “Yes, yes, there aren’t any different packages for that!”
Alright, I took them with me. Now I unpacked one and took a closer look, but you can’t just turn it three-quarters so that the cord hole and the turning rod knob (which are mounted in a corner instead of along the side at the top of the casing) face forward when you rotate the whole box to have those parts on the left. Nor can you move or remove the internal mechanism to place it on the left. If I rotate the casing so that the holes are on the left, the turning rod knob hits the mounting wall (so it cannot be installed), and the cord would be behind the slats as well.
There is nothing mentioned in the instructions either, but I can’t imagine that ALL customers are happy with the cord and rod on the right side, even if they only have a single window. There must be a way to have it on the left side, right?! I’m close to cursing the sales assistant or maybe I missed something? 🙁
Are there perhaps separate packages (maybe one with the rod and cord on the right side as I have, and another version with them on the left) or do I need to install something differently?
Somehow I’m losing faith in the world right now xD
I would be very grateful for any quick help 🙂
