I retrofitted approximately 30-year-old tilt-and-turn windows a few years ago using Abus components: on the hinge side with an FAS101 lockable device, and on the handle side with something similar to an FOS550A, which are rods that extend up and down into a type of strike plate. We sleep with the windows tilted, meaning unlocked. Recently, there was a very brazen break-in at a neighbor’s house, so I’m looking for additional security options for tilted windows—not for insurance purposes, but for peace of mind.
Abus now offers a part (3030) for tilted windows that is installed near the handle at the bottom to prevent opening, but I can’t install it because the rods are already in that area.
Could the following work: I install another FAS101 near the rod side. When the FAS101 is locked, the window can still tilt—since it rotates around that axis—but a burglar would not be able to open it. When I want to open the window fully, I unlock the FAS101 with a button.
Could this be a solution? Or am I missing something? Tilting is basically rotating around the horizontal axis, right?

Peterle
