Hello, we are currently planning a new build using insulated concrete form blocks (Isorast/VariantHaus, etc.). The house will be 165 m² (1776 ft²) with a fully installed underfloor heating system. Now to my question: I would like to use an air-to-water heat pump. Which models can be combined with a solar thermal system? My main concern is that in summer, heating won’t be necessary—only hot water will be needed—while in winter, heating will definitely be required. What system would be best for this? The buffer tank for heating doesn’t need to be very large; for hot water, about 300 liters (79 gallons) would be ideal.

The additional cost you pay for the storage tank, collectors, and control system can instead be invested in 20-30 years of hot water during the summer heated only by the heat pump... it is definitely more economical.
