What has been your experience with current doorbells?
I would like a video function that at least records the doorbell events. Of course, it should also have night vision, etc.
Basically, it’s enough for me to have a monitor in the hallway. It’s not necessary for all mobile devices to ring.
Unfortunately, I haven’t found many meaningful reviews, or the ones I found are outdated.
What’s your opinion? Is a 2-wire system or LAN better? Which video system would you recommend?
Thanks a lot in advance.

C.beckmann198612 Aug 2020 12:16For me, it is important that a “good” camera is installed and that a picture is saved when the doorbell is pressed. The counterpart should be a screen mounted in the hallway. I don’t really have any other requirements...

C.beckmann198614 Aug 2020 17:09Thanks for the tips. I will take a closer look at it. But I need to ask again, where is the difference for me as a user between installing a 2-wire bus line or alternatively a LAN cable? What does one do better than the other? I’m a bit confused and don’t know what to tell the electrician.
Alternatively, I have also considered using a “regular” doorbell and setting up a separate camera with a motion sensor or something similar. Then I would be notified when there is movement and could view the camera feed. Is there an adequate solution for that? Or am I overcomplicating things?
Thanks again.

I would be really dissatisfied with ready-made solutions—if there is anything usable at all—or you’d have to tinker and program yourself. Would that be something you’re interested in?
It’s better to go with an integrated camera and doorbell system, unless you really want to get deeply involved technically.
You could also share your requirements with the electrician. Is he experienced enough?

C.beckmann198615 Aug 2020 10:02Since the electrician was chosen by the developer, you always need to be a bit cautious. Things can quickly be sold without much consideration here...
