Hello everyone, I am currently exploring how to best use the Ikea Hemnes furniture series for a guest room. My main focus is on how to optimally combine the individual pieces to create both storage space and comfort for guests. I am especially interested in ideas for efficiently using beds, wardrobes, and dressers from the HEMNES series to create a welcoming, functional atmosphere in a limited space. Are there any tips on furnishing, decoration, or even modifying the furniture that you would recommend? I look forward to your suggestions and experiences!

Hello Tarunzar, the best option is to use a HEMNES bed with drawers underneath, as it provides a lot of storage space. Add a dresser for the guest bedding. A simple wardrobe completes the functionality.

That is basically true, but using only drawers under the bed does not make the best use of space if the room is very small. I believe a combination of tall cabinets and wall-mounted shelves offers more storage and keeps the floor clear. Additionally, the furniture should be arranged to keep the room flexible in case more guests arrive.

Hello Tarunzar, I can give you a simple step-by-step guide on how to effectively combine HEMNES furniture for a guest room:

- Bed: The HEMNES daybed with drawers is perfect because it can be used as a sofa during the day and transforms into a sleeping area at night.
- Wardrobe: The HEMNES wardrobe with glass doors makes the room feel open and provides space for clothes and luggage.
- Chest of drawers: Ideal for additional textiles, such as towels or bed linens.
- Nightstand: Small but handy for lamps and your guests’ personal items.

Tip: Make sure to choose furniture in light colors if the room has little natural light, as this creates a more spacious feel. Please avoid stacking too many pieces of furniture, as it can quickly feel cluttered.

A quick addition: Daybeds are great, but you should also pay attention to the mattress quality. A cheap mattress will spoil the comfort for guests. I also think it’s important to choose furniture not only for function but also for aesthetics, so the guest room doesn’t feel too utilitarian.

That’s an important point, thank you. Does anyone have specific recommendations on which mattresses work best with the HEMNES beds? Also, I’m interested to hear if anyone has experience combining HEMNES dressers and shelving units for clothing to save space in the guest room.
