ahmad46Hello everyone, I recently bought an IKEA KALLAX shelving unit and noticed that it still isn’t fully level on my hardwood floor. Despite several attempts, it remains slightly tilted, which bothers me especially because the shelf will be heavily loaded and I need stability. Are there any practical tips or tricks for effectively leveling the KALLAX on hardwood floors? I have already placed thin felt pads under the feet, but that wasn’t enough. Are there maybe special pads, adjustable feet, or other solutions that have proven to work? Thank you very much for your advice!
Basically, KALLAX shelves do not come with built-in adjustable features. For uneven hardwood floors, I recommend using adjustable furniture feet, which can be purchased separately. Alternatively, twisted felt pads of varying thicknesses can be used as a temporary solution. Another option is to place washers or small wedges under the feet to create a level base. It is important that the contact surface of the feet remains stable enough to prevent pressure marks on the hardwood floor. Additionally, it may be useful to check the floor for irregularities, possibly using a spirit level. For optimal stability, the shelf should be secured against tipping and fixed to the wall.

Use adjustable furniture glides or furniture wedges. I can only agree with that. Simply use furniture wedges made of plastic or wood; they are easy to adjust and very stable.draleo schrieb:
Secure the shelf against tipping and fix it to the wall. This is an important point, but when you check your hardwood flooring: How large are the uneven spots? Sometimes the issue is addressed too quickly by just adjusting the leveling feet, without thoroughly analyzing whether a repair or at least leveling of the floor itself might be necessary. Otherwise, you’re only shifting the problem and risking long-term damage to the floor or the shelf. Have you measured this with a spirit level or laser?
I understand how annoying a tilted shelf can be, especially when stability is important. I had a similar issue, so I attached small, self-adhesive rubber pads under the shelf feet. They provided enough grip and eliminated the tipping – but of course, this is not an adjustable solution, more of a minor aid for slight unevenness. Maybe this approach can help you as a temporary fix if you don’t have adjustable feet yet.
