Hello everyone,

I am planning to buy a Brimnes wardrobe from IKEA soon and would like to get a realistic idea of the time required for assembly. My question is: How long does it usually take to assemble an IKEA BRIMNES wardrobe?

I would like to know if it generally takes about half a day or if it can be done faster depending on prior experience or available tools. I’m also interested in common challenges that might cause delays during assembly, and whether it is advisable to carefully read the instructions beforehand or if it’s possible to put it together more “by feel.”

I would appreciate any experience-based insights or preparation tips!

Hello Klakla,

regarding your question: Assembling the BRIMNES wardrobe usually takes about 2 to 3 hours if you follow the instructions step by step and have some basic DIY skills.

- It is important to sort all parts beforehand, which makes the assembly much easier.
- The IKEA instructions are generally very visual and clear; I strongly recommend reading them carefully instead of trying to assemble "freehand."
- Common mistakes include mixing up similar screws or incorrectly positioning the back panel, which can cause instability later on.

I also suggest having tools like a screwdriver, hammer, and possibly a spirit level ready, as this will make the process simpler. If you assemble the wardrobe with two people, it often goes much faster, especially with larger parts.

If you want, I can provide more detailed guidance on specific steps or list common pitfalls when assembling the BRIMNES.

I can confirm that. I was quite nervous about the assembly at first, but with a steady hand and a clear plan, it’s definitely doable.

What helped me was taking short breaks whenever I realized I didn’t understand something right away. This way, I avoided stress and kept enjoying the process.

Also, I think IKEA’s clear illustrated instructions really encourage people to give it a try—even if you’re not very experienced with DIY. Just take it step by step and piece by piece. Mistakes can happen, but most of the time they’re easy to fix.

How are you preparing yourself? Do you already know if you’ll be assembling it alone or with some help?

Honestly, as a somewhat lazy-but-diligent helper, I would estimate about 2.5 hours.

- If you have two people, it might go faster, as Nabla64 mentioned.
- I find the BRIMNES from IKEA to be quite sturdy and thoughtfully designed, which makes the assembly process more pleasant.

I completely agree – especially with furniture like this, there’s no need to rush!

A little tip from me: Lay out all screws and parts sorted for a clear overview, and take your time on the back panel; it can be a bit tricky on the BRIMNES, especially if your hands aren’t very steady.

And don’t hesitate to double-check that everything is properly aligned before fully tightening the screws.

Good luck with the assembly!
