Hello,
we are currently planning our interior layout, and in the latest version, our pantry would be completely internal (without a window). I have read in various posts that this can sometimes cause issues, depending on its use.
We intend to use the pantry for storing food as well as electrical appliances that are not used daily. It will also hold beverage crates, etc. Additionally, there is a cellar room available where food can be stored for the long term.
We are also considering placing a freezer in the pantry to save space (and improve the look) in the kitchen.
What do you think of this plan/idea? What should we be aware of?
Since there is no window, would it be possible to have ventilation through the roof (our apartment is on the upper floor)? However, I do not want to install a skylight at this point.
Best regards

On the contrary. Small, interior rooms with heat-generating appliances or components will probably be the coziest space in the apartment. So, you should consider this when choosing which foods to store.I’m not sure about that. We had just under 3m² (32 square feet) with a small freezer, a charging station for the cordless vacuum, and the vacuum robot inside. Otherwise, just shelves and food. The heating was off. The room was about as warm as the rest of the house, slightly cooler in winter, but not significantly. It also didn’t get warmed up on its own.kati1337 schrieb:
We are currently building a pantry very similar to that. We also do not have a window. However, we have a mechanical ventilation system, so ventilation should be sufficient. We plan to leave out the heating in that room for now. Nevertheless, we are installing the heating system so the room can be repurposed in the future if desired or necessary.
We also moved the freezer into the pantry. This gives us more space for an appliance of any size and saves kitchen space.
Additionally, the room is used for the robot vacuum, cordless vacuum, etc., and, as in your case, for storing beverage crates and similar items. Are you planning to connect this room to the exhaust or fresh air system? We have a similar pantry planned, and in our case, the room will be connected to the exhaust ventilation.
The room will not have underfloor heating.

The room will not have underfloor heating in our case. We planned it with exhaust air. It was the same in our old house.
